Dietitian

Registered dietitians are acknowledged professionals uniquely trained to advise on diet, food and nutrition. They can separate fact from fiction, healthy eating plans from unsafe diets and translate the science of nutrition into healthy food choices. Our dietitian plays an important role in our multidisciplinary approach to the prevention and treatment of conditions in the following areas:

Improved health of children: Prenatal nutrition counseling that is beneficial for high-risk pregnant women to improve long-term health outcomes in children. It is proven that proper nutrition will reduce the risk of low birth weight infants and increase the percentage of mothers who breastfeed.

  • Prevention and treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes in children: Obesity prevention in children requires a multi-sector approach with efforts invested in all stages of the lifecycle. As part of our comprehensive lifestyle intervention approach, our registered dietitian provides nutrition counseling and education for children and their parents and works closely with our physiotherapist and kinesiologist to promote active living.

  • Weight loss programs: Our Dietitian offers nutrition consulting and weight management services in form of one-on-one sessions on nutrition education, balanced and healthy eating habits, balanced meal planning, behavior modification, guidance, as well as on-going support. Our weight management program aims to help people achieve long lasting and dramatic results to boost their energy, maximize their health and manage a healthy weight. You will feel better, look better and have a stronger immune system.

  • Better chronic disease management: Nutrition and other lifestyle changes are cornerstones in the management of hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol. Our dietitian works closely with our physiotherapist and kinesiologist to develop a healthy, balanced and active life style.
Our dietitian also creates specific diet plans for osteoporosis, cancer, renal conditions, etc.

  • Chronic pain management: As part of our multifaceted approach to Chronic Pain Management, our dietitian assesses the patient’s regular diet to identify pain triggering elements and provides education and modifications to eliminate them. This, in combination with supplements prescribed by our Naturopathic doctor, will strengthen the immune system and assist in regulating hormonal imbalances and the production of natural pain relieving chemicals in the brain.
