Helping Feet Function at their Highest Potential

An orthotic is a corrective device that is worn inside a shoe to help the muscles, tendons and bones of your feet and lower legs function properly. When appropriately prescribed to treat a medical condition, custom-made orthotics can decrease pain, not only in your feet, but also in other parts of the body, such as your knees, hips and lower back.

ORTHOTICS & ORTHOPAEDIC SHOES

Improper foot biomechanics may be the cause of pain in the ankle, knee, hip, and lower back. As part of our comprehensive approach to treatment, our trained practitioners will guide you through an extensive evaluation to ensure orthotics are the best option, and that they are properly designed for you. During your examination, we observe:

A computerized gait analysis is often performed to observe how you walk, and to identify any existing accommodations or abnormalities.

Based on your assessment, we will discuss your treatment options, and explain how the treatment will help meet your specific needs. If it is determined that you would benefit from corrective orthotics, a 3-D cast of your feet will be taken to capture their exact contours in the ideal functional position. Your cast and prescription will then be sent to a professional Orthotic Laboratory, where qualified technicians will make your orthotics.

Our customary patient education includes discussing how your orthotics should feel, how to break them in, when you should wear them, and how to take care of them.

Custom-made orthotics are made for dress shoes, sport shoes, and also to accommodate foot conditions such as diabetic foot. Many extended health care plans include coverage for custom-made orthotics. Your insurance provider may require a prescription from a Physician.
