Osteopathy
is focused on the idea that disease arises from a poor working
relationship between the body's anatomical structure and physiological
function created by various types of stress, strain or trauma. The body
has a natural tendency towards health and will adapt to these stresses.
The osteopathic practitioner assesses and treats from
the perspective of the whole body and seeks to restore the proper
mobility of the component parts. Attaining balance among the body's
systems (musculoskeletal, circulatory, digestive, pulmonary, neural,
etc.) is the ultimate goal of an osteopathic treatment. Through this
approach, osteopathy aids in the restoration of normal movement and
function thereby assisting the body in achieving its natural goal of
well being. Osteopathy, like physiotherapy, uses hands on techniques to
restore movement and health.
Myofascial release, Cranio-sacral therapy, Strain
Counter Strain, and GOT (General Osteopathic Technique) are just some of
the techniques used by our osteopathic practitioner.
